AMAZING TALENTED ACTORS!

From start to finish it was entertaining. I especially enjoyed the subtle humor intertwined with the storyline. Everyone in the cast is extremely talented.

WONDERFUL FANTASY

I saw the musical in Toronto last night and thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish! Charlie and The other 4 kids where great as was Willy Wonka and the "Oompa Loompa's".... Some other audience members and I thought that the only thing missing was having CHOCOLATE handed out with the programme as we entered the theatre!! Wonderful ensemble cast and an unexpected magical evening.

PURE IMAGINATION!

Was so looking forward to see this after buying tickets, and was not disappointed! It really was a world of pure imagination, and then some! Perfect for all ages - I even saw the inner child coming out of the oldest of generations.

ACTORS ALL GREAT, SETS VERY WEAK IN 2ND HALF

Saw the matine on say 10/6, All performances were very good, music was good too. But the sets were very poor especially in the second half. They relied on video animations and they all fell very short. Also Willy seemed very pale in makeup. Show was fun but slow at times too. Wonky factory was really stretching your imagination..needed more Think kids above 8 would enjoy.

FUN FOR (ALMOST) ALL AGES!

The first half is somewhat dark as we learn about Charlie’s home life. The 8 year olds sitting behind us barely made it through. If only their parents had had the patience to stay for the second act - they would have been enthralled! The Oompah loompas are incredible!!!! My only regret is that I didn’t bring a stash of chocolate. Sneak some in your pocket (preferably large bars), then as the inevitable cravings begin, share them with your neighbors. They will love you forever!!

NOT SWEET ENOUGH

“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” which I saw a few weeks ago is good but only slightly above average. Once again we have a musical that jettisons much of the subtlety and charm of the movie and the book for big productions numbers. The good thing is that many of the new songs are quite good. But this is really a technical show. It's a bunch of fun songs strung together with impressive technical theatrics. The lead, that is, Willy Wonka, sings all the best songs. And frankly I think he sing too much. He is introduced right at the beginning with “Candy Man” and then he disguises himself as the candy shop own to interact with Charlie. The problem with this is that it eliminates all the mystery! Even if we knew nothing about the story Wonka’s eccentricities and his feelings for Charlie are never in question. The original movie with Gene Wilder remains the best televised version of this story!

WORLD OF NO IMAGINATION

I normally don't come out to write reviews, but this was so bad I couldn't keep quiet. I subscribe to Broadway in Chicago and was so excited that this was going to be part of the package thinking this was going to be an amazing spectacle. After dozing on and off in the first half, I wish I stuck to my gut instinct to leave after intermissions with the others around me, but I had high hopes that the factory would've been good and fun to watch. Boy was I wrong. The best part is the Chocolate room where everything is edible, and it was a total let down with VERY little to be desired. The characters left me with a "WTF" look on my face after each introduction. The mom and family were cringe- worthy. The only person that was trying to carry the show was Willy Wonka. I would've gladly changed out my ticket for a 2nd showing of Tootsie. I guess I'll stick to the original movie.

enthralling EXCITING Unmissable

As the lights fade and the fuelled giggles are heard, I realize that a Roald Dahl fan will forever be young at heart!

What could possibly go wrong? As the lights fade and the fuelled giggles are heard, I realize that a Roald Dahl fan will forever be young at heart! In this marvellously colorful production, Charlie Bucket reminds us that it doesn't matter where you come
