MAIDEN

Good show. Really wished they played more of old stuff. It was hot as heck, felt like AC went out

GREAT SHOW, BUT A FEW SNAGS

Maiden put on an epic show, but unfortunately Bruce's mic kept cutting out at key moments. You would have thought they would have fixed it, but like a "Trooper," he pressed on with the show, switching back to the microphone stand several times. Unfortunately, even the mic stand wouldn't do what he wanted. He kicked it with his foot a couple of times and it had a mind of its own, either staying in place or going the opposite direction that he wanted. The arena was still cold from hockey, so the A/C was on full blast (we were under a vent), and Bruce said something about it. He came out wearing a hoodie and khakis and said for them to turn off the "blizzard." Once the A/C stopped, it got warm, but that didn't matter because IRON "FUCKING" MAIDEN was on stage, and kicked our collectives asses. Thanks you, Maiden, and please come back to Nashville. On a side note, Ghost was pretty good, I'd heard some bad reviews about them, but I thought they did okay. Eat at Jack's BBQ.

MAIDEN IN OAKLAND

Great show from Maiden last night! My crew and I were dead center on the floor in front of the band about 20 to 30 rows back. Not actual rows because it was General admission but I'm just estimating. Anyway it seemed to me that Bruce's voice was shot after about 6 or 7 songs and that sent the band into longer jams. I know to some it may have seemed like a mic problem but I'm pretty sure it was Bruce and I felt bad for him because he would mouth the first parts of the verse so he could save his voice for the latter parts. Regardless Maiden was on fire! The jams on Red and the Black and Book of Souls were very intense and they went on and on to my drunk and stoned pleasure. I wasn't that thrilled with the encores that consisted of Number, Blood Brothers, and Waysted Years but the set as a whole was very good. I thought the crowd would be a little more violent because of Oakland's image but I didn't see any crazy pit fights or over aggressive play. Nikko was on point behind the drums!

SET LIST MISSING MOST BIG HITS, LEFT DISAPPOINTED

The band was tight, and Bruce still has the powerful vocals. However they missed an opportunity to kick it up to 11 for the fans by playing very few of their bit hits. Run to The Hills, 2 Minutes, The Number of The Beast, Aces High, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Hallowed by Thy Name....All missing from the set list. wtf? If they had played even 2 of those songs, the crowd would have gone absolutely crazy. As it was, I felt the energy was low for a hard rock show. Happy to have seen them but would not go again unless they change their set list.

YOU HAD TO BE ON DRUGS TO LIKE IT

The stage sound was the absolute worst I've ever seen. I'm not sure if the speakers were subpar, the amps were being so hopelessly overdriven, there was just a problem, or what. The audio was badly distorted as if the tops were being chopped off, and the frequency response was strange. The whole system seemed to be unstable as the levels and response would change periodically. The audio quality was so horrible it ruined the event. If I had bought the tickets, I would have asked for my money back.
